Since 2000, he has been working at the Department of Bridges, Structures and Construction Mechanics, first as an assistant, and since 2002 as an associate professor. In 2004, he was awarded the academic title of associate professor of the Department of Bridges, Structures and Construction Mechanics. Constantly conducts educational and scientific work. He teaches courses in the disciplines: "Architecture of buildings and structures, construction structures", "Foundations and foundations", "Repair and reconstruction of bridges", "Computer modeling" and others at a high professional level. Every year, he supervises the master's thesis design.

While working at the department, Berezhnaya K.V. in co-authorship with the employees of the department, a study guide with the seal of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine "Mining and blasting in transport construction" was published, 17 methodological instructions for course design and practical classes in the disciplines of the department, three lecture notes.

Scientific work of Berezhnaya K.V. related to the search for rational structures based on the analysis of their stress-strain state, the determination of adequate finite-element models of anisotropic spatial structures. After defending her thesis, she published 32 scientific articles on research topics and received three patents for useful models as co-authors. In 2015, under her guidance, Ilya Archylovych Steblovsky defended his candidate's thesis in the field of "Construction structures, buildings and structures" on the topic "Structural-monotropic reinforced concrete floors with rational parameters".
