Research work of students is one of the most important means of improving the quality of training of specialists in higher education. This is a complex of activities of a scientific, methodical, and organizational nature, which ensures the training of all students in the skills of scientific research in accordance with the chosen specialty within the educational process and outside it.

Research work of students at the Department of Bridges, Structures and Construction Mechanics named after V.O. Russian has a development in the work of the student scientific circle, which is a creative student collective that is formed according to the directions of scientific activity of the department. 

  The main tasks of the student research group are: 

• organization of scientific research work of students;
• in-depth study of the chosen topic by students;
• involvement of students in scientific problems of the department;
• development of students' competencies as a scientist, researcher;
• involving students to participate in scientific conferences, seminars, forums, competitions and other scientific research and educational events;
• promoting students' participation in international projects, study programs and internships abroad;
• discussion of theoretical problems, solution of actual scientific and technical issues, carrying out a cycle of research;
• familiarization with the methodology of planning and conducting an experiment;
• approbation of the results of students' research work at international and all-Ukrainian scientific events and their publication in scientific publications;
• establishment of relations with other student scientific organizations, associations, institutions at the international, all-Ukrainian and regional levels;
• promoting the formation of abilities to apply theoretical knowledge in practical activities.
